It'd be cool if Gmail had a feature that facilitated email publishing.
I want this because sometimes I send emails that I want to share with the world.
I support transparency, honesty, and information sharing.
And, some emails, like those that are intelligent, funny, etc., would make great blog posts.
Have you ever written (or read) an email that you were proud of and that you wanted to share with the world?
This feature would sort of be like Craigslist's best-of feature.
Actually, sometimes I see people include emails in their blog posts.
It's like they wrote a blog post according to their previous email.
That's cool. This feature would facilitate and encourage that.
So, basically, in Gmail, you'd click a button to request to publish a specific email.
Then, that would send requests to all the recipients (including those CCed but excluding those BCed) involved.
Then, if everyone approved the request to publish, the email would get published online for everyone to see.
And, you could link to that email.
And, there'd be a feed of public emails ordered chronologically with recent first, just like your private inbox, except it'd be a public inbox.
And, you could do public searches just like you can search your inbox now.
So, e.g., you could search for all public emails sent from Joe Smith.
Or, you could go to Joe Smith's profile and see all his public email (sent & received).
Oh, and of course, like any good feed, you'd be able to share, comment on, and upvote or downvote the emails.
